It included several special spells, unknown to the
canon of the wizards in the party.

Further study may reveal more about these spells, but we were deep underground, exhausted, hungry,
stressed, wounded, blood-splattered and soaked with filth and sweat, so more details were not
immediately apparent from thumbing through the book under the dim, shadow-infused light of spells
and torches deep beneath the surface of the Monastery.

Magical Miscellany

Recharge#

(Conjuration/Summoning)
Level: MU 4 / IL 6
Range: Touch
Area of Effect: 1 rod, staff or wand
\columnbreak
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 6 turns
Saving Throw: None
Duration: 1 turn + 1 round/level

This spell acts as a funnel that draws upon spells to
charge rods, staves, and wands that have
spell-like powers. Throughout the duration
of this spell, the spells that are cast at
the wand are absorbed as charges rather
than affecting the wand. For each spell
cast, the wand regains a number of
charges equal to the number of charges it
takes to employ that power through the
wand. The wand in question must be held
by the spell-caster casting the recharge
spell and the subsequent charging spells.
Those wands that cannot be recharged are
not affected by this spell.

Southern Magic: Cleric

The primary difference between southern magic and spells of the north is the writing system used to
record it - the Thoth mage script. This script, named in honor of the scribe of the gods, is
indecipherable to a standard read magic spell. A read southern magic spell is required to perform
this task, and mages in the south guard this ability with great secrecy in an effort to solidify
their power and preserve their autonomy. Only through the direct tutoring of a southern mage can a
wizard from elsewhere in the Realms gain this capability, and many northern mages have found
frustration or worse when searching for a willing teacher.

Southern Magic: Magic User

The primary difference between southern magic and spells of the north is the writing system used to
